The attack is on CHRISTIANITY

The Chicago Field Museum is the most anti-Christian organization I've ever come across. It is promoting a "Winter Holiday sale", while at the same time they are using "Common Era" dating for years prior to the year 1 (prior to Christ). For example, they will use "400 BCE" instead of "400 BC". "BC" of course means Before Christ, and "BCE" means Before the Common era. For example, this year is 2006 AD because it's 2,006 years since the birth of Jesus. But they would call it "2006 CE" or "2006 years since the common era". Why is there EVEN an alternative to BC and AD? Because it "offends non-Christians" that's why...WHAT??? Saying "400 BC" offends non-Christians? What about the fact that the days of the week are named after Nordic and Roman gods? For example, Wednesday is named after the Nordic god "Wodin"....but how many "non-Nordic alternative" systems are we seeing? NONE!!!

Apparently it's okay to offend non-Nordics when saying the days of the week, but it's not okay to offend non-Christians when saying the years prior to the year 1. But we say the days of the week almost EVERY DAY, and we RARELY EVER talk about years prior to the year 1, or "Before Christ".

My friends, these wars on Christmas and the Christian dating system are CONCERTED EFFORTS TO ABOLISH CHRISTIANITY FROM AMERICA (and the English-speaking world).

God help us all. Oh, and I must add — they are open 364 days of the year.... what day are they closed? Christmas Day!!! How unbelievably HYPOCRITICAL!

Good point. However much they try to erase Christianity out the more it will grow in our hearts. To be blunt, they are and will always be against us.

We can only hope. What I'm scared of is a reformation of Western society into secularism. My kids go to school and aren't allowed to say "Christmas" or even "Santa Claus". Where does this leave us in 50 years? If we had nativity plays 30 years ago and now we can't even mention SANTA CLAUS, where does that leave us in 50 years? I'm afraid Christianity is going to die out.

It's not a war against Christmas, it's against CHRISTIANS.
It's not just the holiday junk that bothers me, it's how our country is adding pagen origins to EVERYTHING!
I hate this.
Being a Christian isn't even being a CHRISTIAN anymore! It's going to Church, saying you believe in him and his word. But have we, America, succeeded in following what our mouths say? NO, we have not!
We talk the talk, but we sure don't walk the walk!

This is bugging me so much. Maybe cause I'm sick with a cold? Cause my sister is getting on my nerve about listing to her song. I don't know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT, I think, as Christmas approaches, we should forget about what America has taught us about this holiday. Drop all words, all hardship, all faith in what this holiday will bring US. Drop it all and just remember how God, our true Lord and King, has these days planned for us. How would Jesus look if he saw how people portrayed his date of birth (that is not really his true day of birth.)
We adorn trees with goods and colors.
We give gifts to each other expecting (deep down) something back.
We hold out our hands and pray, but we do not truly think our words.
We forget about how to love people all year round, because of the gives and gets.
WE ADORN OURSELVES WITH GOODS, JUST LIKE THE TREE. THE TREE THAT SO MANY OF US CHRISTIANS HAVE SURRENDERED TO. WE GIVE OUR LOVE TO OURSELVES.

Is this how Christians are suppose to be?

Christianity might die out, but the phrase "I am a Christian"
will live.
Churches will live.
America will live.

BUT....
truth will die.

I agree with some of what you both said. First of all, I understand about the Christians in name only a lot, emphisize a lot of Christians don't live the life. (see 1 John 4:6)
America has become so confident in itself, that it has no room for Christ, it should be the reverse. We should be filled with Christ. Americans have so much to look forward to and desire. They see everything as happiness. Think about those in deep Africa, India, China, etc.. They have one thing, hope, but they know that it can't be fulfilled. They realize that they need something supernatural to save them. That is why when the offer of Christ comes they accept it readily.
Why we can't even say Christ in the schools is beyond me, pure hate is all. Why we can't pray in schools is unfathomable. We just need to clear our anger and face the facts. Jesus said that we are going to be persecuted and we are right now.
However I don't agree in the philosophy that Christianity will die out. I think we get discouraged because we see so much evil going on around. I think once America goes down and starts to pound down on we Christians we will grow. If you ever read the magazine, "Voice of the Martyrs" you know what I am talking about. Look into history too. The more the inqusition tried to squash the Christians the more the believers flourished! Don't lose hope! Don't despair, the LORD has the world in his hand!

Lanna, you have it backwards.
The faith in the gospel of Christ will not die. Perhaps you do not pay attention to your world, but there are Americans out there who are flaming beacons of Christ, evangelising on the street, ministering to the needy, and strengthening the body.
And america? America is far from falling, or even the brink. Immigration is a major issue, but it will not break us. China? Please, they need us more then we need them.

The church? What is the church really, but the body of Christ? And that is not going any where.

The truth will be destroyed? No, in that you are mistaken. The truth is always there for those who look, and as long as humans are curious, the truth will be found. Of this we can be sure.

Sorry that you're not feeling well, Lanna.

Actually, Lanna, the phrase "I am a Christian" will not continue much longer (in the same numbers, anyway) if persecution keeps getting worse in America. There will be Christians though, but nobody will hear from them because they'll be killed or thrown in jail. First-century Rome - coming soon to a country near you! (see my latest blog post)
